Stoney Knob Cafe in Weaverville

The 52 Weeks from Boring Weaverville crew met up at the infamously eclectic Stoney Knob Cafe for Sunday brunch! Stoney Knob is a Greek/Mediterranean/American fusion restaurant, and their decor is out of this world awesome and weird!

There are 3 rooms that all have a different vibe:

The Diner is all pink and pop culture with a Wonder Woman painting and other 70's icons. Not to mention the GIANT mermaid ceiling painting!

The Diner Room

The Mediterranean (or "Saints and Sinners") Room features a big skylight with all kinds of glittering, dangly bling. There are also faux taxidermied zebra heads and giant squid wall decals.

The Red Room, where we were seated, is covered with bizarre religious iconography from around the world. The lighting is low, and the walls are my FAVORITE shade of red!

Red, red, red!

Our crew was a bit bigger this time with Amber, Jay, IPoM (International Person of Mystery), Cristhian, and myself. We talked about the recently released Wonder Woman movie, superhero flicks in general (Khal Drogo as Aquaman = Hell yeah!), and our various plans for the future. Cristhian is considering going back to school to add a physical therapy assistant degree to his massage therapy one, IPoM is thinking about a month-long trek on the Appalachian Trail, Jay is debating whether chemistry or biology is her top passion, and Amber and I are contemplating a dream of becoming ex-pats someday.

All this life talk while we enjoyed quality, friendly service and AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS food.

By far the most popular dish among my crew was, is now, and ever shall be the Shalom Stuffed French Toast. With fat Texas toast, slathered in blackberry sauce and stuffed with orange cream cheese, this is a decadent feast for your sweet tooth.

Luckily, it comes with a protein so you don't overdose on carbs and sugar!

After all that scrumptious food and engaging conversation, I was pooped. I went directly home to take a nap. In my opinion, the best thing about Sundays is the quintessential Sunday nap!

See y'all next time!

  1. I hope we get to return to the Stoney Knob when I'm out there to visit! I love the decor and that you included conversation snippets. This place is all sorts of awesome! Thanks for sharing!
